The UK-Ukraine TechBridge initiative has contributed significantly to strengthening the technological and innovative business collaboration between Ukrainian and British IT companies, the exchange of expertise across industries, and the formation of long-term partnerships.
I believe 2024 was a breakthrough year for UK-Ukraine tech collaboration, thanks to the Tech Bridge project. This initiative has become a vital link between our tech ecosystems. This success would not have been possible without the invaluable support of our British partners, including DBT, techUK, and others, who have played a key role in bringing this vision to life
In June 2023, the IT Ukraine Association signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with techUK – the leading and influential British association in the IT industry, which has nearly 1000 members across the UK. The agreement between techUK and ITU is based on the Memorandum of understanding between the governments of the United Kingdom and Ukraine, signed in June 2022 and the Digital Trade Agreement signed between the two countries in March 2023.
As parties to the agreements and representatives of hundreds of the respective countries’ companies, techUK and ITU have developed a strategic partnership to support Ukraine’s technological recovery, promote and develop technological links and build up bilateral projects in digital technologies and related fields.
In March last year, the UK-Ukraine Tech Forum took place in London, brought together over 200 participants from both countries, including representatives from 40 Ukrainian companies, to discuss new opportunities for collaboration. The forum featured a closed roundtable on cybersecurity, dedicated to sharing experiences and fostering long-term collaboration. Key topics included the protection of critical infrastructure, countering disinformation and the role of Ukrainian technologies in reshaping the global cybersecurity landscape.
The UK-Ukraine TechBridge initiative has become an essential link between the technological ecosystems of the two countries, driving the growth of skills, innovations, trade and investment, as well as fostering continuous exchange of ideas and knowledge between the countries. The project opens new opportunities for international collaboration for IT companies and plays a significant role in the restoration and development of Ukraine’s digital infrastructure.
In August of last year, we also shared educational opportunities from project partners — the chance to master the latest technologies in cloud infrastructures, work with databases and machine learning, enhance knowledge of Python/Java and receive free certification. In addition to EdTech, UK-Ukraine TechBridge operates in five other verticals: AI, AgriTech, HealthTech, cybersecurity and mine clearance.
