Ukrainian Aeromotors Scales In-House Drone Motor Production

Ukrainian company Aeromotors has entered a new stage of growth, scaling the production of electric motors for unmanned aerial systems and strengthening Ukraine’s capacity to manufacture critical defense components domestically.

Aeromotors produces drone motors fully in-house in Ukraine, covering the entire production cycle — from metal processing and winding to assembly and testing. This approach enables quality control, manufacturing flexibility, and rapid customization for different platforms, from FPV drones to heavier UAV systems. The company’s motors are already used by Ukrainian drone manufacturers operating in real-world conditions.

In December, Aeromotors secured funding from Swedish firm Front Ventures, enabling a significant expansion of production capacity. The company currently manufactures around 10,000 motors per month and plans to scale up to 60,000 units monthly.

A core strategic objective is reducing reliance on Chinese components in critical drone systems and developing alternative supply chains for defense manufacturers. This direction aligns with broader European efforts to diversify defense supply chains and strengthen strategic autonomy in key technologies.

Aeromotors is also expanding cooperation with European partners and exploring localized production and partnership models beyond Ukraine.

This milestone reflects the growing maturity of Ukraine’s defense tech ecosystem — moving from rapid wartime innovation toward industrial-scale manufacturing of critical components, relevant both for Ukraine’s security needs and for the future of Europe’s defense technology landscape.
