Brave1 launches «Test in Ukraine» platform for international defense tech validation; DIEHL completes first UGV trial
Ukraine has officially launched Test in Ukraine, a defense technology testing platform that allows international companies to evaluate their military solutions under real-world combat conditions. The initiative was presented by the Ukrainian defense tech cluster Brave1 at the LANDEURO conference, organized by the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) in Wiesbaden, Germany.
The program is designed to streamline access for foreign developers of advanced defense systems, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), naval drones, electronic warfare solutions, and AI-driven technologies. Through structured field testing and direct feedback from Ukrainian military personnel, companies can optimize their technologies for deployment in high-intensity environments.
Ukraine has unparalleled real-time experience in technological warfare. We’ve built an ecosystem where research and development happens directly on the battlefield. Test in Ukraine opens this experience to global partners who want to innovate faster and more effectively
A Transparent Track for Defense Innovation
The Test in Ukraine platform offers two pathways for participation:
- Independent testing, with direct access to field environments and frontline users.
- Delegated testing, where Brave1 coordinates trials and provides companies with structured reports, including performance analytics and feedback from end users.
Participants also receive logistical and regulatory support, including guidance on import procedures, data protection, and post-test handling of damaged or destroyed equipment.

DIEHL Becomes First Foreign Company to Test in Ukraine
German defense manufacturer DIEHL, known for its IRIS-T air defense systems, is the first international company to conduct a field trial under the new platform.
The company tested its unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) at the training ground of Ukraine’s Third Assault Brigade. The trial enabled the DIEHL team to:
- evaluate the system in an environment closely resembling combat,
- collect operational feedback from military personnel experienced with UGVs,
- and receive tailored recommendations for adapting the system to frontline requirements.
This first use case demonstrates the platform’s core value: delivering fast, real-world validation for defense technologies in a live operational context.
Ukraine as a Global Defense Tech Accelerator
Test in Ukraine reinforces Ukraine’s emerging role as a center for military innovation. With nearly two and a half years of large-scale war experience, Ukrainian defense forces continue to evolve technologically in real time — providing a rare and valuable testing ground for global partners.
As Brave1 expands its collaborations with both domestic and international manufacturers, the initiative is expected to accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation defense capabilities worldwide.
